First Steps In Music

Created by John M. Feierabend (formerly of the University of Hartford), First Steps in Music for Infants and Toddlers incorporates centuries of folk songs and rhymes to give infants and toddlers quality experiences that foster neurological, physical, and musical development. Additionally, the group classes provide opportunities for young children to practice social skills with peers and create lasting relational bonds with their parents.

For students who complete the Infants and Toddlers course, First Steps in Music for Preschool and Beyond builds on learned skills to begin developing musical qualities. Early Elementary groups may also start their musical journeys here. Continuing to use quality materials, students will discover the joy that comes from being Tuneful, Beatful, and Artful.

Elizabeth Christy-Heathcote received her Kodaly Levels I-III, First Steps in Music, and Conversational Solfege I-III certifications studying with John M. Feierabend at the Hartt School, University of Hartford. She curates the First Steps curriculum to provide the best experiences for single- and mixed-age groups.
